''Don't Worry, what ever happens, it always work out for the good!"
There was once a king who ruled over a very happy and prosperous kingdom.
The king relied on his chief minister to address any and all problems within
the kingdom. The minister always gave the same advise,no matter what the
problem was or who presented it to him, ''Don't Worry, what ever happens,
it always work out for the good!" His advise proved to be wise and true as
evidence by the ever prospering and happy kingdom.
One day, the king, his minister and the kings entourage went into the forest
on a hunting expedition. Soon, the king and his minister became separated
from the remainder of the group and eventually, were hopelessly lost.
The king soon lost patience with their predicament and began to complain.
The minister, however, held his composure and responded to the king as he
always did to any and all problems, "King, Don't Worry! Remember, what
ever happens, it always work out for the good!" hearing the ministers oft
repeated wise words calmed the king for quite some time. However,as
darkness approached, the king became distraught once again and resumed
his complaining. The minister attempted to calm him by repeating his words
of wisdom, but the king continued to protest, citing his inability to run his
kingdom as the reason for his lack of equanimity. Having compassion for
kings distress, the minister suggested they rest under a tree for a while. They
were quite for few minutes, but shortly there after, the king began to complain
that he was hungry and nothing to eat. The minister looked up, saw a fruit high
up in the tree and climbed up and brought the fruit down to the king.
The king was some what appeased, took out his knife and in his haste to peal
the fruit, cut off the tip of his finger. The king became more agitated over his
latest perceived tragedy. The minister calmly cut a piece of cloth from his
clothing to dress the wound. The king loudly insisted, "What do you have to
say now, minister? Things have gotten progressively worse since we became
lost and now this has happened! What do you have to say now? What do you
have to say? " The minister looked deeply into the kings eyes and simply
repeated his previous counsel, "Remember king, what ever happen, no matter
what, things always work out for the good!"
The ministers remarks infuriated the king; he completely lost his composure
and ordered the minister to leave his presence immediately. The minister
calmly did as his king commanded and walked away into the forest.
The king sat under the tree bemoaning his fate and a few minutes later his
apparent direcircumstances became even worse. In those ancient times,
the worshipers of Kali offered an annual human sacrifice to her and that
time of year had come. When they came upon the king, lost in the forest
and he proclaimed his lofty position, they were elated, believing that
Kali would be especially pleased with their fine offering.
They returned to their temple with the king and began to prepare him for the
sacrifice. However, when they began to undress him and discover the band aid
finger and saw the missing finger tip, they were very upset. The sacrifice to
Kali had to be a perfect human specimen and the absence of kings fingertip
made their potential sacrifice unworthy. They immediately threw the king out
of their temple and went in search of a more suitable sacrifice.
As the relieved king began to wander through the forest he remembered his
bellowed minister and deeply regretted his last interaction with him.
In that moment of repentance, he admitted that that his minister had been
right in saying that everything always works out for the good; He realized
that if his finger tip had not been cut off, he would by then have been
sacrificed to the fire of Kali. Just then, he saw his minister walking towards
him with the remainder of the hunting party. The king ran forward, threw
him at the ministers feet and begged his forgiveness for banishing him into
the forest. Still on hiss knees, he related all that had happened to him.
The minister calmly asked the king to get to his feet and said, "King, don't
you realise that if you had not banished me, the Kali worshipers, upon
discovering your missing finger tip, would have taken me for their human
sacrifice and I would now be no more? Remember king, no matter what
happens, it always work out for the good."
